My Approach
For students in school, my preferred approach is to keep to the topic they are currently learning in their classroom lessons where applicable. This will:

help to solidify their understanding of the topic, before they move on to more complex material

prevent confusion that may occur if the student was studying more than one topic at the same time

enable the student to see their hard work paying off more quickly, for example in homework assessment scores.
If a student is struggling with maths, it is more often than not due to either lack of confidence, or a gap in their knowledge - often of a more foundational topic. Therefore, building confidence and understanding the basics are key to my lessons.
Years 7 - 9
Perfect for KS3 students who need a little extra help alongside their school maths lessons, need to fit in some gaps in their knowledge, or need to build confidence in their maths skills.
We will ensure the student understands the topics as they learn them in the school classroom, and can go back and fill in gaps where necessary.
GCSE
Tuition for students (usually) in year 10 & 11 who are studying for their GCSEs, whether you are looking for support in achieving Grade 4 or want to push for the higher grades.
SY Tuition can accommodate a variety of requests, including:

Weekly lessons throughout the school year to help the pupil track along with the classroom teaching (we can always go back to cover any knowledge gaps from previously-taught topics).

Revision help closer to exam periods

Just a few sessions to help cover one-off topics or exam technique.

Taster Session
I believe it's important for the student to find a tutor that suits them and their learning style. With that in mind, I offer a taster session so you can decide whether I am the right tutor for you - with no commitment required.
During the taster session, we will chat through the student's feelings about maths, which topics they are confident on and which they maybe struggle with, and what they want to get out of tutoring sessions. We will then take a look at some of their school work, and have a go at some exercises, so you can see my teaching style.
These sessions work best if you have classroom exercise books available - or even better, a mock test or assessment that the student has taken in school.
Pricing
1 hour taster session: £15
Key Stage 3: £20 per hour
GCSE: £25 per hour
All prices include travel to your home. I will often recommend exercise books, the cost of which are not included in above pricing.
